When the snow melted in May we found the remains of our pumpkins: flat and decomposed. Over the summer the plants grew in and we didn't give it another thought until a few weeks ago....

I think we are growing our own pumpkin plant!! From the beginning of my pregnancy my mom and sister have been calling her Pumpkin because she's due near Halloween (please, oh please don't come on Halloween!) and my tummy is growing nice and round. The nickname has stuck, so I am REALLY hoping that there will be some pumpkins when our little Pumpkin is born. I am still wrapping my head around having a girl (because somehow I had convinced my brain that I was going to have all boys) so its been fun to rethink colors and bows and dresses! We are throwing around names, but haven't settled on a fitting one yet (see our last post).

Speaking of the last post, I didn't know Jeremy was going to post that and it made my day! I love when he lets out little bits of his inner thoughts, especially when he says sweet things about me, hee hee! So now its my turn. I couldn't have asked for a better husband and support. He lets me cry when I'm feeling overwhelmed and emotional, then tucks me in for a nap because he knows that all I need. He is patient and helpful, even when he is on campus from 9-7 and I'm sure he just wants someone to take care of him. I hope he doesn't mind that I'm sharing this, but he sent me a text today: "Waiting 4 months to hold our baby girl is going to be very difficult". He just about melted my heart!

update on baby

Given that Melissa promised an update the day after her last post, I figured I should step up and fill in. We went over to the doctor's office at 3. They took us straight into the ultrasound room and started in on the fun stuff. It didn't take long for them to identify the baby's gender. Here is a picture. If it wasn't labeled, could you tell?

It was very exciting to watch the baby, now our baby girl!!!!, as she moved and twisted. She kept standing on her head and pushing out with her legs. It took quite a while to get decent pictures of her head to make measurements because she was so active. It was fascinating watching her move, especially knowing that in 20 weeks, she'll be moving around in our arms.

As for names, we had a boy's name all picked out. It was a smooth, easy process. Melissa had a girl's name she really liked, but it didn't work for me. So, of course, we are having a girl and have to come up with a mutually agreeable name for her. We have narrowed it down a lot, but we are somewhat limited by the initials. For instance, if we named her Belle Aubrey Davis, then her initials would spell BAD, and we don't want that.

That being said, I issue a challenge. Come up with a first and middle name that both works as an actual name and spells something cool with her initials. I think it will be fun to hear all the suggestions.

Last thing, Melissa has been wonderful throughout this whole experience. She has had to deal with a husband who forgets stuff, a calling that demands a lot of time and energy, and a job that can be very draining and emotionally tough. Throughout all that, she has kept enough energy to make dinner and be excited and share her life with me, for which I am eternally grateful. She isn't nearly as cranky as she thinks she is ;)

just about 20 weeks.

Wow, 20ish weeks already. But that also means I'm half way through with another 20 weeks to go.

I have SO MUCH on my mind, so much I want to say, but I am horrible at getting my thoughts out in complete sentences. So, I'll do what I do best, make lists!

First 20 weeks:
~ I think they've gone pretty well :)
~ no morning sickness, no bad swelling or weight gain
~ I love love love fresh fruits and veggies. I always have, but they just taste BETTER now.
~ sigh, I am not that excited by red sauces like spaghetti. Sad.
~ I've fretted that my bump is too small, too big, too low. Poor Jeremy.
~ I haven't been much of a crier, but man do I get cranky and moody.

So now I am looking ahead at the next 20 weeks.

Tomorrow (Tuesday at 3pm) we are going in the BIG check up where they measure the baby, get more blood from me to check on all the fun stuff that can be happening to baby, and the big GENDER CHECK.

My brain is in over drive! Even now I am having a really hard time focusing on getting this all down, but I really want to because in less than 24 hours this bump goes from being just my belly to a growing little boy or girl. I honestly feel like my life will never be the same after. I want to have a record of what I was feeling the night before.

Honestly I'm scared/overjoyed/anxious/nervous/overwhelmed with love. I just want to cry like a wimp and smile like a crazy person at the same time. [Side note: If I'm like this the night before finding out if the bump is a he or a she, what am I going to be like nearing me due date? Poor Jeremy]. I feel little bubbles (near my bladder, thank you baby) and I can't imagine those are little tiny feet pushing around in there. All of the sudden it will be real: I am having a baby in 20 weeks, and this is what it looks like! AND I won't even go into what I'm feeling about being a mom and how inadequate I feel! And who decided I was mom material? Whoa, is it hot in here... room spinning?

On the flip side, I am so excited to start to get to know this little fetus. Start calling it by a name instead of "The Bump" or "It" or just "Baby" and think about will it look like me (bald big head, a lot like E.T.) or Jeremy (wide smile, curly hair). I've had so many wonderful friends and family offer me all sorts of clothes and stuff! Its just so wonderful and overwhelming.

Man, whew! Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I just hope I can get some sleep and make it through work with out having a coronary.

Tomorrow I will update on our little one, and hopefully keep you updated.

updates and growth

So I haven't updated in a while because not a lot has been going on, kinda.

We have big news that we've been keeping secret until we could tell as many people in person.

We are 12 weeks PREGNANT!

Baby is due October 28th, 2011.

I'm finally starting to show, which makes it a little more real!

(Sorry to those we couldn't tell in person or through a more personal email).

Speaking of things growing

Jeremy grew out his beard during spring break this last week.

I think its pretty impressive for just a weeks worth of growth! I have so many things that I've wanted to tell you over the years, but (as a Bond) I had a hard time of knowing when and where.

SO, in no kind of order what so ever, here are all the things I've been wanting to tell you!

-First, and for most, thank you for being a wonderful example and patriarch to us all. You came to all of our baptisms, weddings, and any other function you could make it down for. We/I have always appreciated that!

-Some of my favorite memories from staying in Sacramento are you and grandma taking us kids down to the park and shore of the American River, or to the Arden Swim Club. I don't ever remember you ever once raising your voice at us or getting mad at us (although I am sure we would have deserved it). Secretly we always used to call you "the nice grandpa". There were always oreos to munch on, sodas to drink and you and Grandma watching "The Monkeys" or "Peter Pan" with us at night.

-In all my memories of staying in Sacramento I always remember you eating cereal with us in the morning, any kind we wanted, even if it was sugary! You would also read in your chair in the living room and I always knew to find you there.

-I love every time you call the house. I know its you because dad talks a little louder and laughs a lot. I have always loved that every time you call you ask about each one of us. I can hear Dad down the hall telling you what is going on in our lives and it always has made me very happy to know that you think about us.

-Your relationship with Grandma was, and will always be, the standard that I would like to set for my own marriage. I am a lot like Grandma Bond and I know that we are not always easy women to get a long with, BUT I know you love Grandma by the way you treated her, especially in front of us. You were always kind to her, never argued or fought, and when she was in the hospital for all those years you sat with her for hours a day, and I will never forget your loyalty to her.

-I wanted to also thank you for supporting me in all I've done. You've never said a negative thing to me in all the decisions (right, or wrong) I've made in my life. You know I've had a hard few years and I love you very much for your love and support.

Happy Birthday Grandpa, I love you with all my heart! ~Melissa Beth Bond

Robert Bond
March 1919 - October 2010

Cry baby

Oh man,

So for the last 2 weeks I have been an emotional wreck. (warning, this gets pretty long). I went off one of my medicines and it kicked my butt, plus I was PMSing, so there, ya, I used that excuse.

For two weeks, plus some lasting residual, I have CRIED at everything.

Some of its been pretty funny because they can't be explained:

- Jeremy and I were driving home from the grocery store and Queen's song "You're My Best Friend" came on the radio. I turned to Jeremy and I was super excited and I said "This is my FAVORI---" and the tears started STREAMING down my face! I couldn't help it, I just LUVVVV that song so much. Plus, Jeremy's my best friend and I feel like IF I could sing I would sing this to him, but he's not that into music and I don't think he'd get the full meaning and understand the feeeeellllliiiinnnngsss I have for it and him....

- I was going to have lunch with Jeremy on campus for lunch and as I walked to the Crossroads cafeteria I watched a bunch of students break dancing to Kanye West and Daft Punk song "Stronger" and it made me REALLY home sick. WHAAA??? ya. As I walked into the building had to tell myself to not cry, I am 28 darn it! but I couldn't find Jeremy and it was all too much! So I leaned against the wall crying and texting my best friend Becky that Kanye made me cry.

- On our way back from Idaho Falls one day BYU-I radio jazz hour was on and it was Disney Bossa Nova from Brasil in Portuguese. I'm not a huge Disney fan ( I know, may I be cursed to hell, yadda yadda yadda) but these were so cool! The song that did me in was a version of "Bibbity Bobbity Boo" (listen to it, I dare you not to have your heart swell and spill out your eyes!). Maybe my body forgot what it felt like (for 2 weeks) to be extremely happy over small things so it just made me cry for the heck of it. Thanks body, see if I take care of you this week! Pass me the ice cream.

Some has been ridiculous: NPR has made me cry 2, thats two, times!!!

- The first time was on my way to have lunch with Jeremy and I had NPR on and it was a few days before the Chilean miners were rescued. All the stories were touching but only one made me cry. Sigh. A beauty salon in the town near the mines were giving the daughters, mothers, sisters, and wives of the miners free haircuts, manicures, and makeovers to be beautiful for their men coming home. I don't know why, but this touched me and I cried and cried and had to change the channel. They just wanted them to feel beautiful for their men. What if everyone just helped each other like that?

- Jeremy and I were coming home after school and work and NPR had a report (sense a pattern?) from Canada about a man who helped set up a banking system for families who had a child with disabilities. He asked the parents what do you want for your child's future, and they answered "financial security and friends". I LOST IT! Everyone should have friends. I can't imagine being a parent of a child with disabilities and knowing that you can't be there for their entire life.

There are A LOT more things I've cried over, but these were the most ridiculous.

HAHAHAHA, I feel silly now.

in good hands

Good news everyone!

After sitting on my tush for 4 months I finally got a job!! August 2nd was my first day at Allstate Insurance in Rexburg, ID! Its minimum wage, and a little more hours than part time... BUT I AM SO HAPPY I HAVE A JOB!! I am a bit OVERWHELMED with all that goes on in an insurance office, but the guy who is my supervisor? manager? trainer? is super nice. Right now I am filing papers around the office, taking payments, taking messages (because I have no idea what I'm doing)... but hopefully in October I'll be taking the test to make me a real insurance sales agent!

( I tried to find a picture of our office or something more personal, but did you know that if you type Allstate Rexburg into google pics you don't get a picture of our cute Allstate office in Rexburg? I did get a lot of pictures of our all-state athletics teams, and quite a few pics of David Archuletta, which confused me until I figured out that there is an Allstate stadium in Chicago he once sang at AND he once sang in Rexburg. Google, you are WAY ahead of me!)

See our pretty logo?

Jeremy has been taking a summer religion class (which I think is not a real class because the "homework" is reading from the Ensign. Isn't that a commandment or something?). So he's taking the summer off, and he totally deserves it!

He does have a very important job that he's been doing since we moved here: he sells his soul! No wait sorry, he sells his PLASMA! He does it twice a week and doesn't mind at all that his arms have holes in them! Its an important job because it pays $50 a week and for the first 4 months of us being here, it was our only income. I am so proud of him and admire him a lot because I am sooo scared of needles (and they told me my veins were too small, so I couldn't donate if I wanted to).

What a Stud!!

Also: Happy 200 days of marriage for the best husband I could ever ask for!

Fake update

So not much has changed. It was a stabby pain that I can't explain and I was the biggest baby about it. I called my mom to tell her I was dying and what should I do? We talked and decided that I should go to the local Urgent Care on Main Street. I called and through tears explained that I had no insurance and not much money, but I was in serious pain. I felt like a weeny, but I'm sure they get calls all the time like that.

Jeremy was WONDERFUL and ran across campus (through the cold and rain) and met me there! I have the BEST HUSBAND EVER! He rubbed my back and gave my shoulder little kisses. It helped :) The people at Urgent Care are angels, they were so sweet and explained everything that was going on. They took some blood and samples, then the doctor said I probably have a kidney infection. He didn't want to rule out a gallbladder infection so he had my go up the street to get a CT scan. Yipee!

I got checked into the out-patient part of the hospital (thanks for being my emergency contact Sarah!) and they had me drink some bitter stuff to make my organs show up in the CT scan. I had to wait 2 hours, so we went home and I took a nap. I was pretty out of it, but I did notice that my neon yellow band aid matched my hospital bracelet! Hahaha

There aren't any pictures of the CT scan, bummer because it was pretty cool. My brother Keith works with the CT scanner in the hospital in Provo, so it was neat to see what he does all day. I think it'd be a pretty cool job.

After the CT scan we went back to Urgent Care and they hooked me up to an IV of antibiotics for an hour. Jeremy was hilarious and read me articles about Dancing with the Stars and the bios of TV commercial actors out of US Weekly. I'm such a dork, I wanted to document everything.

WARNING: We took pictures of the IV so if you don't like needles, just skip the pics.

I got a comfy arm chair and I was tempted to take it home! By this time I was feeling less stabby pain and more of just ache, which was a HUGE improvement. Such a happy patient.

I thought I was such a good patient that I deserved a treat from Sonic and Jeremy was such a good caretaker that he got a pizza for dinner. YAY!

Its been 24 hours later and my fever broke so I am feeling MUCH better. I'm only sore, like I over did a workout, but nothing like yesterday. I went back to Urgent Care this morning to get a check up and they said I didn't need another IV. YAY!! I did get 2 shots in the bum and they HURT. BOO!!!

So many first (and hopefully some lasts)!!
-first CT scan
-first IV
-first organ problems
-first shot in the bum
-first big emergency for Jeremy and I

Thanks everyone who said such sweet things on my facebook. Its comforting to know that even though I'm so far away from my friends and family, I still feel your love and support. And thanks Mom for checking up on me and worrying about me. <3

Its begining to look a lot like... Wow, time flies!

Today and tomorrow are stressful days of school and tests for Jeremy so I wanted to do a little low-key something just to let him know I love him. I was thinking about making 100 hearts, but thought that might use a lot of paper and that's a lot of hearts to have all over our place.

Then I remembered my sister made a little banner for St. Patrick's Day and it was soo cute!

So that's what I decided to do too!

I was so happy with how it turned out!!

AND it looks great on our empty wall in the kitchen!

Jeremy loved it too and we are going to keep it up for a while :)

(sorry for the poor photo quality, I can't find my camera and had to use my cell phone)

Also, I made this new recipe similar to my families Chicken Divan I found here, but I accidentally doubled the butter (yikes!) and it was so rich that we could barely finish one serving each. Valerie and I grew up together and became bosom buddies (or at least I think so, hee hee) from Sunday school, Young Womans, sleep overs, Seminary, proms, family campouts, and High School graduation when she moved away to BYU. I hadn't seen her in YEARS and it was so wonderful to see her again! It almost felt like time hadn't passed at all!

We visited for a while then we all went to the Rexburg Temple for a session. It was so fun to go to the temple with friends!!

After the temple we went to the famous Millhollow Frozen Yogurt shop. Its famous b/c our friend Yung and Drew Smith got engaged there 9 and 1/2 years ago when they were students in Rexburg when it was Ricks College. It was fun to finally see the place where Drew won our lovely Yung's heart. Awwww. The yogurt was delicious!

I love the Snyders and am sooo happy that they visited us!!

Update

So we've been in Rexburg just about 3 weeks now and we are coming up on our 3 month anniversary on Thursday (Jeremy counts the days, how cute!!). Its been warm, its snowed, its been windy (up to 45 mph at some points) and I can't keep it all straight.

So far things are pretty quiet. I take Jeremy to school in the morning, I come home and do home stuff (mostly dishes and laundry), and then I pick him up in the early afternoon. We run errands together, we come home, and I cook dinner while Jer does his homework. After dinner we play on our computers and watch some Netflix tv or a movie. Yup, that's pretty much the jist of it. I love it, and am very relaxed, but I know I need a job soon. I had an interview last week, but didn't get the job, but that's ok, there were A LOT of skilled applicants and I know something will show up soon.

Here are some pics of stuff and updates:

I really like the Relief Society of the ward we are in (92nd ward, married students). The first Saturday after we moved in the RS had a potluck social and I went, and it was a lot of fun! I met a lot of the girls. I found out that in this ward you are either moving in/out, pregnant or just had a baby :) but I guess its like that in most newlywed wards in Rexburg and Provo. I mean that in the most loving way possible, hee hee.

This is a picture they took at the social: Breeana, me, Julia, and Sarah. I like this picture because each of the women have been significant to us/me since we moved in

Sarah invited Jeremy and I to have dinner with her and her husband last Sunday and it was a lot of fun! We had taco soup (YUMMY!) and talked a lot about everything; missions, meeting our spouces, where we grew up... I am so happy to have found a friendly couple right away that we get a long with. They are expecting a baby this summer and they are soo cute about it!

Julia is our neighbor, she and her husband help maintain our place that we are renting. They cleaned and painted it before we moved it, and it looks beautiful! We exchange cookies when we bake them (she makes great chocolate chip cookies!) and its just nice to know we have neighbors we can count on.

Jeremy and I got callings at church today!! I got called to be on the Relief Society Activities Committee, and Breeana (first girl in the picture) is the head of the committee! She is lives in our complex too, and is extremely nice and out going. I think its going to be a lot of fun! Jeremy's calling is Home Teaching District Leader. I think its a great calling for him, not too much work, but just enough :)

I make dinner every night, good or bad, and I take pictures of each meal I cook (incredibly dorky I know, but I am very proud of how well we are eating) and I am starting to post them on my food blog. www.eatoutloud.blogspot.com

Here are pictures of us eating the easiest meal yet, grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup.

Mmmm yummers....

I'll try to post more often so you don't get long winded updates from us again.

We've arrived!

After a long long drive and a scare of not finding a motel to stay friday night, Jeremy and I have officially arrived in Rexburg! We left on April 9th and moved in on April 10th, a beautiful and sunny day!

We LOVE our place, and here are some photos to show it!

This is what our front porch looks like! I think its beautiful!

I love the look on Jeremy's face, it totally sums up our feelings.

This is the family room. Right now it has 2 big sofas, a t.v., a bicycle and a ton of boxes... Also, it doesn't look that pink, really.

The kitchen!! My favorite room to play in. It now has all kinds of appliances and grains in containers on the counters, and in the middle of the room there is a card table and folding chairs. Its perfect!

The upstairs bathroom is hands down the cutest/cleanest room in the place so far.

LOVE my heart shower curtain!

We just LOVE being in our own place, which makes us even more grateful that we saved while living with Mom and Dad Davis.
