In March of 2009 it was my Grandpa Bond's 90th Birthday and in celebration the whole family wrote him a letter. Posting the letter I wrote is how I am paying tribute to him.

Happy Birthday Grandpa Bond!
I am so happy that the whole family got together to celebrate your 90th birthday with you! When i heard that everyone was writing a letter to you I got so excited! I have so many things that I've wanted to tell you over the years, but (as a Bond) I had a hard time of knowing when and where.
SO, in no kind of order what so ever, here are all the things I've been wanting to tell you!
-First, and for most, thank you for being a wonderful example and patriarch to us all. You came to all of our baptisms, weddings, and any other function you could make it down for. We/I have always appreciated that!
-Some of my favorite memories from staying in Sacramento are you and grandma taking us kids down to the park and shore of the American River, or to the Arden Swim Club. I don't ever remember you ever once raising your voice at us or getting mad at us (although I am sure we would have deserved it). Secretly we always used to call you "the nice grandpa". There were always oreos to munch on, sodas to drink and you and Grandma watching "The Monkeys" or "Peter Pan" with us at night.
-In all my memories of staying in Sacramento I always remember you eating cereal with us in the morning, any kind we wanted, even if it was sugary! You would also read in your chair in the living room and I always knew to find you there.
-I love every time you call the house. I know its you because dad talks a little louder and laughs a lot. I have always loved that every time you call you ask about each one of us. I can hear Dad down the hall telling you what is going on in our lives and it always has made me very happy to know that you think about us.
-Your relationship with Grandma was, and will always be, the standard that I would like to set for my own marriage. I am a lot like Grandma Bond and I know that we are not always easy women to get a long with, BUT I know you love Grandma by the way you treated her, especially in front of us. You were always kind to her, never argued or fought, and when she was in the hospital for all those years you sat with her for hours a day, and I will never forget your loyalty to her.
-I wanted to also thank you for supporting me in all I've done. You've never said a negative thing to me in all the decisions (right, or wrong) I've made in my life. You know I've had a hard few years and I love you very much for your love and support.
Happy Birthday Grandpa, I love you with all my heart! ~Melissa Beth Bond
