I guess my body decided that life was too dull and I needed a little "excitement"
Starting at 10pm I had a good 12 hours of the most excruciating pain through my lower back and wrapped around to my bellybutton. It was a stabby pain that I can't explain and I was the biggest baby about it. I called my mom to tell her I was dying and what should I do? We talked and decided that I should go to the local Urgent Care on Main Street. I called and through tears explained that I had no insurance and not much money, but I was in serious pain. I felt like a weeny, but I'm sure they get calls all the time like that.
Jeremy was WONDERFUL and ran across campus (through the cold and rain) and met me there! I have the BEST HUSBAND EVER! He rubbed my back and gave my shoulder little kisses. It helped :) The people at Urgent Care are angels, they were so sweet and explained everything that was going on. They took some blood and samples, then the doctor said I probably have a kidney infection. He didn't want to rule out a gallbladder infection so he had my go up the street to get a CT scan. Yipee!
I got checked into the out-patient part of the hospital (thanks for being my emergency contact Sarah!) and they had me drink some bitter stuff to make my organs show up in the CT scan. I had to wait 2 hours, so we went home and I took a nap. I was pretty out of it, but I did notice that my neon yellow band aid matched my hospital bracelet! Hahaha
There aren't any pictures of the CT scan, bummer because it was pretty cool. My brother Keith works with the CT scanner in the hospital in Provo, so it was neat to see what he does all day. I think it'd be a pretty cool job.
After the CT scan we went back to Urgent Care and they hooked me up to an IV of antibiotics for an hour. Jeremy was hilarious and read me articles about Dancing with the Stars and the bios of TV commercial actors out of US Weekly. I'm such a dork, I wanted to document everything.
WARNING: We took pictures of the IV so if you don't like needles, just skip the pics.
I got a comfy arm chair and I was tempted to take it home! By this time I was feeling less stabby pain and more of just ache, which was a HUGE improvement. Such a happy patient.
I thought I was such a good patient that I deserved a treat from Sonic and Jeremy was such a good caretaker that he got a pizza for dinner. YAY!
Its been 24 hours later and my fever broke so I am feeling MUCH better. I'm only sore, like I over did a workout, but nothing like yesterday. I went back to Urgent Care this morning to get a check up and they said I didn't need another IV. YAY!! I did get 2 shots in the bum and they HURT. BOO!!!
So many first (and hopefully some lasts)!!
-first CT scan
-first IV
-first organ problems
-first shot in the bum
-first big emergency for Jeremy and I
Thanks everyone who said such sweet things on my facebook. Its comforting to know that even though I'm so far away from my friends and family, I still feel your love and support. And thanks Mom for checking up on me and worrying about me. <3
